We are the Cheeky Girls !
Identical twin sisters Monica and Gabriela Irimia are better known in the UK as the pop sensation the Cheeky Girls. Born on October 31, 1982 in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, the twins shot to fame after appearing on "Popstars: The Rivals" in 2002.
Although they did not make it past the first auditions, they did generate huge public interest and soon won a record contract with Telstar Records from where their hit The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) was released in early December 2002. It got all the way to number 2 in the top 40 (quite a feat considering the christmas competition).
Cheeky Song worst song ever?
In 2004, the same song, was voted as the worst pop song of all time in a channel 4 poll. but it is the Cheeky Girls who are having the last laugh. Public interest is still huge for Monica and Gabriela and rarely does a week go by in the UK that they are not in the newspapers.

19/04/2010 -The cheeky girls along with over 20 female celebrities and hundreds of women from across the UK are part of Cancer Research UK’s unique charity single; a re-recording of Cyndi Lauper’s 80s classic ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’. The Cheeky Girls feature in the video which can be seen at youtube by clicking here.
